Love Potion Bottles

Hello, my batty friends! Justin here and I am super excited to be sharing with you a really fun way to use the brand new Potion Bottle Shaker Die Set from the Pretty Pink Posh August Release!

When I saw these potions bottle shapes, I thought it would be SO much fun to use them as some sort of a love-potion theme, so I took that idea and put a little bit of a bloodsucking spin on it!

For my potion bottles, I took the base of each bottle and die cut it twice from white blending cardstock, so that I had (2) of each potion bottle shape. I took each of the bottle tops and die cut them once from kraft cardstock, and each of the potion bottle labels and die cut them once from a light pink cardstock.

Using the white potion bottle die cuts, I ink blended the top edges of one of each shape with Salvage Patina Distress Oxide Ink to give it a bit of a glass look. Then, using the 2nd set of white potion bottle die cuts, I ink blended them using a combination of Red, Pink, and Red Violet colors to come up with various blends blends for the potion itself. I used the following Distress Oxide Ink colors: Kitsch Flamingo, Picked Raspberry, Festive Berries, Lumberjack Plaid and Seedless Preserves. Once blended, I splattered the panels with water to get some bleach spots.

With a set of scissors, I cut a straight line across the top of the blended potion die cuts so that it looked like the potion itself didn’t fill up the full bottle. I adhered each potion die cut on top of the coordinating full potion bottle die cut with the Salvaged Patina blending.

For the potion bottle tops, I used Vintage Photo Distress Ink to blend the bottom edge of each top, and adhered them into place. Then, taking Worn Lipstick Distress Ink, I blended the left and right edges of the Potion Bottle Label Die Cuts, and adhered them onto their coordinating bottle.

To embellish the bottles further, I grabbed the Halloween Candy Hearts stamp set and stamped out the heart that read “Batty for you” in Rouge Ink by Catherine Pooler Designs. Then, to fill in the heart, I stamped the solid heart stamp using Rose Petals Ink by Catherine Pooler Designs. I grabbed the coordinating dies and cut the heart out, adhering it with foam tape to the center of the smallest bottle.

I then die cut the small bat die cuts included with the Potion Bottle Shaker Die Set from gray cardstock, blended the edges with Black soot Distress Ink, and adhered a few of them onto the 2 larger bottles. I had a couple of the little bat die cuts left over, so I saved them for later.

The background for my card came together nicely. I took a 4.125” x 5.375” panel of light pink cardstock, placed the Crackle Background Stencil over it, and blended up an ombré using Tattered Rose, Saltwater Taffy and Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide Inks. I splattered the panel with Opaque Black Paper Splatter.

Using foam tape and liquid adhesive, I arranged my potion bottles into a trio cluster, and adhered them to my card panel. I added the leftover die cut bats as embellishment towards the top right of my panel, and also used a few clay slices from the Halloween Friends Clay Confetti as well!

Finishing this card off, I adhered it to a white A2-size card base and was fully completed!

I hope this card sparks some spooky inspiration for how you can use the Potion Bottle Shaker Die Set to craft up elixirs for many occasions!

Thanks for stopping by, and happy crafting!
Justin
