Wishing You Sunny Days

Surf’s Up, Crafty Friends! Jill here and I am stoked to be here today and share this sweet little summer card, using the recently released Beach Fun set! This set is full of sweet images to celebrate summer and make all the cards and tags. So many of these images would be perfect for many occasions we make cards for–I always love versatility!

To create these fun surfboards, I first pulled out my scrap bin and cut a few strips of different colors. I adhered those to a sheet of paper and then stamped and embossed the surf boards on top. I didn’t measure the strips, but looking at them now, they are all pretty close to being the same, capturing the center lines of the board. Complete happenstance and I’m here for it! If you don’t like to wing things, like I do, you can easily measure strips to be all the same.

Of course, the boards needed to sit upright in the sand. The new Shoreline Borders dies were perfect for this. (And for many of the cards I made for this release ) I layered up three layers of sand dunes and blended some ink to the edges. I stood up each board vertically in the sand and added this sunny sentiment from the Sentiment Strips: Summer set, which I white heat embossed on black cardstock.

The background of this card is created with the Scallops Pierced Plate and the Eyelet Rectangles die set. I decided to cut out the center part and adhere that down to a full Eyelet Rectangle die cut, keeping the texture solely in the main panel.

I think this card turned out swimmingly and I love the crisp simplicity of it. By changing the colors of your cardstocks, you can easily customize this for your recipient in a quick jiff! I am definitely going to be doing that for a few birthday cards!

Thanks for stopping by and riding the waves a bit with me today. Hang Ten!

  1. Great card, Jill! My very first reaction was “love the sherbet-esque” colors! The whole card is fantastic!
