Whimsical Ornament Shakers

Hi friends! Christina here to share a fun Merry and Bright shaker card showcasing some of my favorite things from the October 2024 Holiday Release. I used the Build an Ornament Dies to create shaker ornaments for my card design and added lots of festive greenery and embellishments. Follow along as I walk you through the steps to creating this easy shaker card.

I started by arranging three of the base ornaments on a heavy-weight white cardstock panel trimmed to 4 ¼ x 5 ¼  and die cut them to be the shaker windows. I used the heavy-weight cardstock for extra stability and then die cut the same arrangement again from patterned paper before attaching it to the heavy-weight cardstock.

Next, I die cut the same ornaments from white, pink, and salmon cardstock and attached them to a 4 ¼ x 5 ¼ cardstock panel for the shaker base, using the shaker window panel as a template for their placement. Then I attached foam strips around each ornament, creating wells for the Berry Bright Shaker Beads before adding foam tape to the rest of the base panel. To finish the shaker assembly, I attached acetate to the reverse side of the shaker window panel before placing it on the base panel.

To the front of the shaker panel, I added ornament toppers die cut from matte silver cardstock and pieces of twine tied in little bows. I framed up my ornaments with the largest Scallop Frame Die that I die cut from salmon cardstock before adding the remaining embellishments, including greenery from the Holiday Wreath Builder and the Holiday Mug Additions sets. I added a sweet bow from the Beautiful Bows Dies to one of the ornaments and Cherry Red Pearls to the other two. Finally, I added a sentiment from the Winter Greetings Stamp Set heat embossed with glittery red embossing powder and die cut with the coordinating dies, and for the final detail, a few Metallic Silver Pearls.

That’s it for this Merry and Bright shaker card featuring just some of the beautiful Christmas and winter-themed products in the Holiday Release. Thanks for following along, and I’ll see you again soon!
