Happy Spring Shaker
Hello crafty friends! It’s June again, and today I’m back with a fun shaker card!
I had a specific color palette in mind for this card, which was aqua-green-brown. I started off by cutting out the Butterfly Shaker Die and giving it some color. I went with both the aqua and green to make it as colorful as possible. I used the Distress Oxide colors Peacock Feathers and Twisted Citron for this. I also added some white splatters with thinned out acrylic paint to add some detail. For the back piece of my shaker I used the same colors, but with a very light hand. I put mostly Pastel Party Shaker Beads inside of my shaker, but I also handpicked some butterflies in the colors I wanted from the Spring Butterflies Clay Confetti.
To bring back the same colors, I cut out the Heart Vines Die and used my Copics on it to color in the leaves. I added some white gel pen detailing on them to. I used the same die to add an aqua frame around the whole card as well.
Now, the issue with the Heart Vines Die is that there’s a big heart in the middle that I didn’t want to show behind my butterfly, so I cut out the largest Scallop Oval Die and backed it with an ink blended panel to cover it up. I used Distress Oxide in the color Tea Dye to blend a soft gradient and splattered Vintage Photo on top of it.
I backed my vines onto a piece of cream colored cardstock and used some foam tape to add my oval shape. The shaker also uses foam tape, so it’s quite a bulky card, but I love all the dimension it added.
I finished off my card by adding my sentiment. I stamped the ‘happy’ stamp from the Birthday Scripts stamp set with embossing ink onto brown cardstock and I embossed it using white powder. I added a ‘spring’ from the Sentiment Strips: Easter stamp set to complete my sentiment and tadaaa! My card is finished!
I hope to see you again later this month with a new card :)
Pretty!! Love shakers!! This butterfly is THE thing for spring!
