Best Jungle Friends + Video

Hi, friends, it’s Lauren. I have been on a “I need to make cards for my nephews” kick – I love making floral cards, but I know they would appreciate something not so flowery as a birthday card. So we’re going to bring out a few of my favorite stamps from Pretty Pink Posh!

I started with my background for the card by stamping the “you’re the best” sentiment from the Jungle Friends stamp set with green ink on a piece of kraft cardstock that measured 4-1/2 x 5-3/4”. I used the Pierced Hearts Plate Die to add some detail to the cardstock and used green inks to add a little color to the bottom of the panel. Finally, I cut the background with the largest Eyelet Rectangles Die.

Next I cut out two of the Stitched Leafy Borders Dies out of green cardstock and added some dimension with green ink on the leaves as well. I layered my kraft panel on top of a piece of green cardstock (4-1/8 x 5-3/8″), then adhered my leafy borders at a bit of an angle with liquid glue. I trimmed any excess off with scissors and then adhered this finished background to my A2 card base.

My images are stamped from the Jungle Friends and Jungle Additions stamp sets with a pale brown alcohol marker friendly ink. I colored them in with OLO markers and re-stamped the images with colorful inks to give the images a bolder outline. This is achieved by using a MISTI and not moving the stamps to re-stamp them after coloring. You can see how I do this in today’s video! I used the Jungle Friends and Jungle Additions coordinating dies to cut out the images after coloring.

I layered my images onto the card with liquid and foam adhesive and added a few shiny details with Lemon Shimmer Confetti. I hope you enjoyed this card today and I’d love to know which jungle critter is your favorite!
