2 Sketches 4 You- Laura’s Sketch #14

I can’t believe it! I’m actually posting a card on a MONDAY! Ever since I got my Cricut Expression, I have been trying to find reasons to use it! I only have the two cartridges it came with, but I love them so much! I’ve been searching online to see what other ones I may want. (or put on my Christmas list!) Does anyone have a “must have” cartridge they want to recommend?
This card is for a friend that is going into open heart surgery on Friday. She is such a dear friend, she has helped me with so much. I’m hoping that this card brings a little sunshine into her day, (we NEED it here in Seattle!) and reminds her that people are thinking of her.

Right now I’m going through a phase where I can’t get enough scallops, die cuts and buttons. Speaking of buttons, I really need to find a huge set of really cute ones…again, any suggestions? I got a few packets at the Creating Keepsakes show a little while back, but I really want some other colors and sizes. If you see a good set, or a place to get them for cheap, send me the link!

I think I’m still fighting something, so I’m going to go to bed soon. (Of course, I’m gonna do a little more blog hopping…..Can’t get enough!)

  1. Darling card!! I love the color combination that you used and the way you interpreted Laura’s sketch.

Congrats on your new cricut….it is my favorite scrapping tool. For cricut cartridges, the ones I use the most are Plantain Schoolbook (that you probably got with your Expressions), George and Basic Shapes, Alphalicous, Base Camp, Walk in my Garden, and Tags, Bags, Boxes, and more. You can go to the cricut website and visit the message board to see the examples that people have done with their cartridges to help you decide what you might want to get, too.

I like to buy my buttons in the sewing department of craft stores. They come in huge bags and cost much less than those you buy in the scrapbook section. You can also get them in a wide variety of colors.

  2. This cards is adorable! I love the buttons! Speaking of which, I found that Wal-Mart carries big bags of misc. buttons in their craft section for only $1.50! I load up on them…also thrift stores sometimes have jars of wonderful vintage buttons!

  3. Gorgeous card!! Your friend is going to love it!! I just got a Cricut, too!! Took advantage of Walmart’s after-Thanksgiving sale!!

  4. That is one cute card, Paulina! I’m pretty sure your friend is going to love this card! Hope your friend is doing well in her operation!

  5. What a sweet card, sure to cheer up your friend! Fabulous take on Laura’s sketch this week!

  6. Love, Love, Love this card!!! Home accents is a favorite of mine, but there are so many great cuts on all of the cartridges. Definitely go to the cricut messageboard and check out other people’s work. Also the Bitten by the bug blog has cricut challenges every week and also hallmarkscrapbook.com has weekly challenges for the cricut:)

Enjoy your cricut! I know I couldn’t live without mine:)

  7. mmmm….I think your friend would LOVE to get that card whether she’s in surgery or not! :-P It’s adorable; seriously. :-)

  8. First off…that card is so adorable! I love the little tree accent! Great job with the sketch!

And second….congrats on the purchase of your Cricut E! I LOVE mine…couldn’t live without it. If you love to make cards…I would suggest one of the new cartridges that just released called “Hello Kitty Greetings”. While it has a lot of actual Hello Kitty images, it also has a lot of non-kitty images like cherries, strawberry, cupcake, rainbow, etc…and it has a card feature on it. EVERY single image can be turned into a card. I posted the cherry card on my blog, so come over and check it out if you like!

My other favorite cartridges are Graphically Speaking, Opposites Attract, Going Places, Street Signs, Indie Arts, Celebrations, and Christmas Cheer. Enjoy your E!
