Las Vegas Part 3

Yippeeee! It’s finally the start of my weekend! After my business trip and jumping back into work, I’m SO ready for a little R & R. First on my list: to unpack my suitcase and clean my room! I think unpacking is the worse thing ever-I think I detest it even more than cleaning the bathroom! I hate having lots of laundry to wash and then having to put it all away! Thankfully, I don’t have another trip for six weeks….

Here is a picture of Wendy and I in front of the booth. Oh goodness, I have no idea what I would have done had Wendy not been there. While we were setting up (in 100 degree weather!), I got really dyhydrated and nearly passed out. Needless to say, in between the trips to the restroom and having to sit for long periods of time, I wasn’t too much help. Even though this was Wendy’s first show, she handled it like a pro and was a lifesaver!
*Side note: Wendy has an AMAZING post for Dawn’s color challenge- you must check it out!*

This next picture is with Maria of It’s Cheaper Than Therapy. Yes, that is really the name of their company. :) I had the privilege of standing near their booth. Let me tell ya, Maria is one amazing saleswoman. After hearing her tell one person after another how versatile The Big Shot was, I caved and bought one. I know, I know, I’m supposed to be saving money….I’m serious, this lady could sell you snow in Alaska! If you are ever in need of any Sizzix or Spellbinders, ICTT is the place to go. I haven’t bought any dies yet- I’m still trying to decide what I want! Anything I “must have”?

Well, I’m off to get my craft on. Be back later!

Las Vegas Part 2

Hello my dear blog friends! Hope you had a great Wednesday! Any plans for the weekend? I’m really hoping that I can get some crafting in…it’s been over a week! Right before my trip I got a box of goodies- I’m DYING to play with them!

These pictures are right in front of the Bellagio. For Vegas newbies, they have a water show every 15 minutes….it is truly spectacular. They have music playing and the fountains “dance” to the music. We watched a total of 8 shows- yes, we were there for 2 hours! Both my mom and I were truly mesmerized by the amazing waterworks. If you go to Vegas, you NEED to check it out. I was amazed at how many people gather for these shows….if you look around, you will see all sorts of people. We saw some people dressed up in fairy outfits, Batman, the Joker and then of course, you see all kinds of other people.

Well, that’s all for tonight. I’ll be posting cards soon, I promise!

Toodles!

Las Vegas Part 1

As promised, here is a post with pictures from Las Vegas. I have quite a few…be prepared to see a few days worth. :)

This first picture was taken right in front of the Bellagio hotel/casino. Isn’t it gorgeous?! If (very, very slight chance) I ever go back to Vegas, it would be so cool to stay here! I’m sure it costs quite a bit, but a girl can dream, right?

On the ceiling in the lobby entrance, there was a Chihully display. It was so stunning! There were so many gorgeous displays at the Bellagio, it was hard not to take pictures of everything! (Honestly, I wanted to take a picture of the bathroom, but I didn’t think that would be appropriate.)

In the atrium, there was a fabulous fall display. My friend, Wendy, said that they change the display every few months….I can’t imagine what it looks like in the spring! For this display, they had tons of pumpkins, squash, fall flowers and this creepy tree man. :)

This was the display that was behind the registration desk. It’s a little hard to see from the picture, but there are huge pumpkins and other fall decorations surrounding the lion statue.

In closing, here were some of the stunning chandeliers near the atrium. Can you imagine them in person? It really was a sight to remember.

I’ll be back soon with more pictures!

Snow….in April

The title says it all. Why is there snow in April?! I know that April showers bring May flowers- what does snow bring? I am so over the snow….we have had more than enough this year!

This card was super easy to make- in fact, I made two! I love how versatile this card is. All you need to do is change up the sentiment, and you had a fabulous, hearthfelt card! As you can tell, I’m OBSESSED with all things rounded. I have used a corner rounder before but never this much! I love how it can make a card feel “softer” and more subtle. Speaking of things rounded, I just got the Stampin’ Up scallop border punch- I can’t wait to use it!! I also got another punch, but haven’t decided how I’m going to use it yet. It’s definitely not my normal type of punch- I think you will all be proud that I’m going outside my comfort zone! :)

Well, I’m off to do some stamping and watch some more Monk. I just bought the second season, and I’m half way through already!

Hoppy Easter

I have had this card for months and months, but kept on putting of scanning it. Well, I guess I’m just on time with posting it! :) However, now that it’s so late, I don’t know who I’m going to give it to! Most likely it’ll just go in my stash to be sold later….This is one of my favorite card layouts. It’s so easy to do, but the card always looks fantastic.

Today I went and saw a movie and had lunch with Ginny. It’s so funny how our everyday talk consists of blogging, certain stamp designers, stamping and card challeneges! Of course we talk about other things too, but crafting comes up quite a bit. It’s so fun, I can’t talk like this with any of my other friends- I would bore them to death!

Well, I’m gonna go blog hop for a little while. Hope you all have a fantastic night, and I’ll catch you tomorrow!

2 Sketches 4 You- Kazan’s Sketch #23

Can you believe it….I did not just one card using this sketch, but three! After showing them to the rest of the family, this one was deemed the best. (I’ll be posting the others in the next day or two.) I wouldn’t have called this my favorite, but everyone liked the colors and also the green daisies! That’s one thing I love about stamping- you can make green daisies, purple elephants and pink cars! :D

This week seemed to be extra long…maybe because the people around me were on spring break and yet I was still working. However, I did get off early both yesterday and today. It’s a good thing I did too, because I caught a cold! It came on really suddenly last night, and today I feel MISERABLE. I’m so incredibly bummed- I had plans for the weekend! I’m hoping that it’ll go away quickly so I can still enjoy my weekend.

Well, that’s it for right now. It’s off to bed I go!

In the Blink of an Eye

Where has the time gone? It seems like just yesterday that my baby brother was born. In reality, it has been almost 9 years! I miss the times when he was itty bitty and I could hold him…easily! I miss the times when he couldn’t say things properly and he would say things his own way. Wow…I’m starting to sound old! I honestly cannot believe how fast times flies by. Now my brothers are fairly grown up, and they can do almost everything on their own. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE them being the age that they are now- they crack me up! However, I wish I had treasured the times when they were younger a little bit more.

As mentioned in an earlier post, I went to Tucson for a stamp show. I had such a great time with my “stamping family”. Seriously, these ladies are my honorary grandma’s! :) It was a two day show and I kept fairly busy. Unlike Washington, the weather was HOT! I knew it would be, but I wasn’t expecting THAT hot. It’s so strange that the snow just melted for us, and then in another state they are wearing flipflops and tanks! Even though I love wearing flipflops, I don’t think I could stand to live in hot Arizona. My body is not made for that kind of weather- though I don’t mind visiting every once in a while.

Again, my apologies for not posting sooner. I have been unusually busy these past few weeks…I think things will start to slow down though. I don’t mind being busy, but I also enjoy my time relaxing and stamping. :)

Thanks for stopping by! Oh, in closing, did you notice anything *wrong* with the card? The scallop circle stamp is off centered! I accidentally stamped it like that, but nobody said anything. Well, nobody… but my little brother! He’s like, “uh, the card is nice, but why is this stamp crooked?” I tell ya, my brothers are not your usual boys! :D

Color Challenege #43

Wow, it’s been forever since I have participated in one of Kristina’s challenges. The past few have been really hard for me…I know they are supposed to stretch you, but I just couldn’t make them work. Plus, I wasn’t too motivated to really try since Kristina had taken the round up down due to her busy schedule. (It was my goal to get up there someday. Yes, it may sound sad, but in my mind that would just be an amazing honor. The next thing better than that would being published in a mag!)

When I saw the colors this morning, I got so excited! It’s a good thing I like these colors- I was getting frustrated with how my things were turning out. I made something before this “just a note” card, but it is NOT going up on the blog. In fact, I just wanted to throw it away after I saw the end result. Isn’t it funny how a card can look so great in your head, but when it comes to executing it, it can turn out so bad?!
Like my previous post, I’m using my new PaperTrey papers. I just can’t get enough of these polka dots. In fact, I just ordered some more! I have barely used any of mine, but I know I’m going to! On Saturday I’m planning a stamping day with Ginny- as usual, lots of talking, glitter, food and movies! I’m really excited because she is bringing her acrylic blocks! I’ll finally be able to use my new stamp set! :) Now I’m just hoping my creativity will start to come back before then!
It’s late, and I’m exhausted. Hopefully I’ll be able to get more cards up here soon!

New Products

Don’t you just love this color combo? I just got my first PaperTrey order in, and I couldn’t wait to play with all my new papers! I got the cardstock sampler, Bitty Dots paper sampler, buttons, my first clear stamp set, and some other goodies. I was most excited about the buttons and Bitty Dots papers. Aren’t these papers just too cute for words? I already know that I’m going to have to order another pack, and I’m planning on getting some more stamp sets. (Might be a good idea if I get some acrylic blocks first. I can’t even play with my new set yet!)

This card was based off of Lulu’s bonus sketch @ 2 Sketches 4 You. Be sure to check it out!

Hello Friend

As much as I love technology, there is nothing that can replace a handmade card. Quite a few of my friends are going through hard times, so I thought I would make some “just because” cards. Even with Facebook, Email, Twitter, etc., there is something about receiving a handwritten note. I have gotten a couple books of postage stamps (before they raise the prices AGAIN!), and am going to make a conscience effort to send more notes this year.

You can probably tell by now, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE these stamps! At first I didn’t care for the curly dove, but now I just can’t get enough! I think these stamps are my new stand-bys.
Before I forget, be sure to check out my Splitcoast gallery. It’s all the same cards as I post on my blog, but you can see them at a glance. I’ll get some more up soon- still trying to figure out the ins and outs of the site. Do any of you have galleries on SCS? If so, send me the link! I’d love to check out your work!
