Bright Tropical Card + Video

Good morning Pretty Pink Posh friends! Heather Hoffman here today to share this bright, happy, and tropical theme card with a fun stenciling technique, some simple Copic coloring, and of course, a bit of bling!

I used two different colors of distress inks to blend my background – Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean – over the fun Jungle Background Stencil. I masked off the bottom with Purple Tape, and blended on watercolor paper before lightly misting with water to slightly blend the colors. If you watch the video, you will see that it is best to go easy on the water – too much will wipe out your design, but a little gives it a nice soft watercolor effect! 

Next, I stamped the fun palm tree and flamingo from Tropical Birds stamp set and die cut with the coordinating dies. I did some simple coloring with Copic markers – using just two shades for each color for blending. I also used some simple warm gray Copics under the bird and palm tree to add some grounding to the images for a touch of realism. I then adhered them over the top with foam adhesive for a touch of dimension.

Finally, I added the sentiment at the bottom using both Tropical Birds and Simple Sentiments to create a custom sentiment, then finished off with a sprinkling of Luau Jewels Mix placed with my Crystal Katana and mounted on a coordinating blue card base.
