Highlights + Feedback Needed

It’s time to announce the 10 Minute Craft Dash #27 Highlights and we have some new names in the post today. Hooray! It warms my heart to see some new faces joining in the challenge and also getting to stumble across new blogs to follow. Seeing you take the color palettes and turn them into beautiful cards and projects is such a delight!

feedbackToday I wanted to share what’s been on my heart and also get your feedback. As many of you know, running a challenge is a lot of hard work- coordinating with sponsors, GETTING sponsors, putting together graphics and posts, coordinating with the DT….the list goes on and on. In recent months, the challenge participation has been down by quite a bit and now I’m struggling with making the decision on whether to continue on in 2014. Now is the time where I would need to consider doing a new design team call and  starting to acquire new sponsors, which has me in a tizzy. Is the lack of participation due to the over saturation of challenges? The uninspiring color palettes? People still scared to try the challenge? I would LOVE to get your feedback on this. I do wish to continue on with the challenge, but if the numbers and interest just isn’t there, it’s out of my hands.

Okay, now back to the happy news and our regularly scheduled post….

Congratulations to Cristine!

  1. I would be sad to see 10 minute Craft Dash to come to and end. I actually just found it a few months ago and think I have maybe done 4 now. I have done all that have come about since I found your blog. I really enjoy it because it makes me think! I have hard time coming up with ideas on my own and with the Color choice it gives me a place to start. To be honest I have ADD and figuring out how to start something is sometimes the hardest and this give me a little push in the right direction, and it lets me be creative. It is my theropy!

So I guess what I am trying to say is…… please oh please continue!
Thank you for all of your hard work!

  2. Hi Paulina!

I love this challenge and wish I that I could participate more than I have. The last two challenges I missed out on due to illness. I did make a card for the last one but wasn’t able to get it posted in time. I hope that you’ll continue with this challenge.

  3. I LOVE your challenges Paulina! I think the colors are always great! For me personally, I have a time issue…I so want to play every time there is a new one posted, but with two small kiddos, it is super hard to find the time. Otherwise, I would play every new challenge, given the chance!

  4. Paulina, I really love the 10 Minute Craft Dash and I wish I could join in more since I have a lot of homework. I think that people are sometimes not comfortable using the colors because sometimes there are unexpected color combinations. I must admit that I also have trouble sometimes with the colors but that is what makes it a challenge! And at the end, the colors look great together! So Paulina, I think that you must keep up with these challenges! They really kick start my mojo and you do a wonderful job organizing all of this!! :)

  5. Wahooooo…thrilled to be picked as a fav since I failed miserably on the timing part:) awesome card by Cristine! Off to check out the others!

Don’t give up on the challenge!!! I truly believe that with FB and other social media, blogs are taking a huge hit. Personally, I love challenge blogs and don’t think that there are ever too many out there…it helps with creativity on all different levels!

  6. Ohhhh no! I love the 10 minute craft dash. I’ve never missed one of your challenges. The color palettes are always very exciting and I like it when I have to rack my brains over how to best implement it in a card. In just 10 minutes! I would be very sad if your challenge would stop next year.

    Hugs Betty

  7. For me, having the time to do a challenge is the biggest problem. But, I often also find it too restricting to have a color palette that I have to use, when I’m so much of a CAS girl who likes to limit my colors. The time limit is most of the time challenging enough as it is =) Maybe the color palette could be an optional thing, or something you can be inspired by but not limited to? As for continiuing on the challenge or not, you could “contract out” some of the work to a challenge coordinator, who you could work with to get everything in place and done. You could issue a call for a challenge coordinator on your blog, to see if anyone’s interested =) I hope this was of some help to you, and I hope you will come to a conclusion you are comfortable with.

  8. Awh, thanks for picking me as a favorite! <3 <3
I would like to participate more, I just was feeling overwhelmed with life itself. I still love your challenges and like seeing how so many people can create amazing projects in less than 10 minutes. This may not have been super helpful feedback, but I do hope you continue. I'll be more supportive and participate more. ;)

  9. Well I can only speak for myself but in some ways I am in the same predicament. Lately, I am so short on time that it is hard to justify committing 192 sq ft of my house as a craft room. Maybe when the cold and wet weather really sets in, I can spend more time crafting but right now, all I want to do is be outside with my kids. Oh and that is another thing, I did a ton of card crafting while my kids napped but they do not nap anymore. For me, time is a huge issue, no matter what the deadlines are. Anyway, I think you are the only one who can determine if the challenge is a worthwhile endeavor of your time. I think your submissions are great and you just had an amazing birthday bash, right?

  10. wow, I’m actually shocked that the numbers have been down! I LOVE this challenge so much, and would really be bummed if it had to stop. I think you have done a wonderful job with maintaining it and always giving me color pallets I may not think to put together… maybe more publicity? Have some guest designers come in on the challenges, or as an added bonus the winner of the challenge gets to have the option to guest design as well in a future challenge? Just some thoughts, but I LOVE this challenge so I hope it doesn’t have to end! Thanks for all of your hard work with it!

  11. I love this challenge but I am not great at working to colour challenges so for me that is what puts me off entering some weeks. Maybe unrestricted challenges some weeks or a sketch could be a bit more freeing to enter?! But fab challenge, I hope you keep up the good work!!

  12. Honestly, I haven’t played in quite sometime. It’s nothing to do with your challenge. I personally just have been in a rut & haven’t felt inspired by too much until just a day or so ago. It’s great to have my Mojo back & I do hope to play again with the next challenge! :)

  13. I love the 10 minute craft dash and would certainly miss it . I have only just found it so maybe a a bit more promoting may get dome more players in xc

  14. Even though I haven’t entered one yet (I just discovered you a month ago :) ) I like the idea of having to complete a card in 10 minutes.

  15. I love challenges and would be sad to see this one go, but I think it would be cool to change it up a bit such as getting inspiration from other things not just a color palette. I appreciate all your hard work cause you do have some fab sponsors!

  16. Hi! I just wanted to say that I love your challenge! I’ve been away from my own blog and from creating any cards lately bc it’s a super busy time of the year for me. I follow your blog through email though and had to comment… I hope you decide to continue the craft dash. This is such a unique challenge & I hope to get back and play soon when things get back to normal in my world. P.S. hope you’ve been able to enjoy some of the amazing weather we’ve been having lately in the seattle area ;)

  17. Love the challenges, love the colors and I always like to join in when I have the time. Like many have mentioned it could be the time factor because I think your concept and your color palettes are right on!

  18. Hi! First of all, thank you so so much for naming me as a favorite for this week! I LOVED playing along in my first ever 10 Minute Craft Dash! It is different from EVERYTHING else out there and that’s why I LOVE it! I would certainly play along if it weren’t sponsored too. Really forces me to minimize and get back to the roots of this craft I SO fell in love with many moons ago! Last week I filmed a video of me making my card and I encouraged my subscribers to get out here and play along. Hopefully if I keep doing so, more people will hear about it and play along. I really think for the fact that this is a UNIQUE challenge, it really needs to stick around if at all possible. I’m sure you’d have TONS of people interested on being on the DT of such a great challenge!!! I plan on playing along with every new challenge!

  19. I LOVE the 10 Minute Craft Dash and would be very sad and upset to see it end! :( I often make cards for it, but by the time I get around to entering them, the challenge is over…lol. It is actually one of my favorite challenges right now. Maybe even my favorite! :) I love how challenging it is and I LOVE the different color combos you come up with! It is so much fun and I always enjoy the inspiration! Please don’t end it! :)

  20. I was recently introduced to the 10 Minute Craft Dash and have participated in each challenge since then. I’m very new to the stamping/crafting world, so from my perspective, I don’t think too many challenges exist…or perhaps I don’t know how saturated the field might actually be. Even with my limited experience, I feel like 10MCD has a special niche…it’s unique, challenging, and it can be helpful to those who have time constraints and don’t have so much time for crafting…or for those (like me) who struggle with coming up with color palettes. I really like participating in these challenges. Back in the early spring, I promised myself that I’d spend the last 15 minutes of my day (before going to bed) doing something creative. I was very stressed with work at the time, and having some time to reflect and unwind helped me to clear my head and even sleep better. You challenge has served as part of that promise to myself to just carve a bit of time for myself.

Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help keep the challenge going. I’m here to help however I can:)

  21. Hi Paulina,
I’ve loved the TMCD ever since you started it! This was a tough migraine summer for me,and I didn’t participate as much as I wanted to here. I love this challenge!!! Your color choices are always striking, your blog is well designed, and the rules/instructions are simple. But more than the physical/technical aspects of this challenge, anyone can see what a sweet and wonderful person YOU are. Having chronic intractable migraines myself, and knowing that you’ve had some health issues, I can understand if you decide to stop; one can only do so much. I will em bloggy friends, and give them the heads-up on this situation too. No matter what you decide, those of us who love the TMCD will support your decision. Take care, and keep us posted.

  22. This is one of my favorite challenges and I hope you will be able to continue this in 2014. I tend to make cards using your colors as inspiration after the challenge is over. I will try to get better at that! I also really enjoy your between challenge posts – especially your craft haul and tutorial videos. You are such a talented designer and I hope you will be able to keep the 10-Minute Craft Dash going. I will do my part and enter more challenges before they close :) You have actually inspired me to do something blog related that I have been passionate about for awhile! Thanks for all of the inspiration!

  23. I really hope that you are able to continue!!! This is one of my favorite challenges – the past month I just was swamped with Design Team stuff, starting homeschooling my kids, sick kids (and me!), husband out of town, etc…, so my challenge entries pretty much disappeared! But…all of those are slowly getting caught up – and this is one of my very favorite challenges! Just the idea of making something in 10 minutes is so refreshing when you spend so much time creating! So YES! Please continue! If you need any help or support, please let me know! I might be able to hook you up with a couple of sponsors through some of my Design Teams – so give me a holler if you need help!

  24. Hi :)
I only recently found your challenge and i love the idea to get a card made in 10 minutes…we are all pushed for time so 10 min s is doable…and you would think would get more people making. The only thing i could suggest is maybe change the challenges up week to week so its not always a colour challenge. Maybe a sketch or picture or theme.
I’m sure we all appreciate the time and hard work that goes into running the 10 minute craft dash.
    Kate xx

  25. I like the challenge. Unfortunately it takes me hours to make a card. I have yet to get to a point where I’m even close to one hour, much less 10 minutes. I do love the challenge of creating using the colour combos and I’m getting better at being more efficient with my time, I’m just not there yet….

  26. Hi Paulina,

I really really love the 10 minute craft dash. It is a challenge like no other!
In fact I think I have participated in more craft dashes than any other challenge.
Every time I see a color palette I want to participate in it. In fact I made a card for the last challenge, but I did not find time to post it in time :( I have been kicking myself for not posting it.

I am also surprised that the numbers have gone down. But I am sure that it is just a temporary thing. People get caught up some time. So don’t lose heart. I am sure more people will turn up next time.

I have one suggestion though. I have a full time job, and I travel for about 2.5 hours daily between work and home. So this makes me dead tired when I reach home, and all I want to do is sleep. So my crafting is pretty much limited to weekends. And most of the times, I miss your deadline beacause the contest closes sometime on Saturday(IST), and even if I do manage to make a card on Saturday morning I don’t find the time to post it. I have missed posting three or four cards in this manner. Perhaps, it is just me or perhaps it is a couple more. But I do feel that if you could work out a way to extend the challenge to Sunday Midnight, it would be more helpful. If what I suggest makes sense you could move the start of your challenge to a Thursday/Friday rather than Wednesday. It ensures that you have enough breathing time to choose winners, design the next palette, etc. If it doesn’t work for you, ah.. well, I will still try to do every dash ;)

Cheer up, girlfriend! We love you and your blog so much. The 10 minute craft dash is the best!

    Hugs,
    Vithya

  27. I recently found your blog and joined 2 challenges and skipped 2. I honestly love the time limit and the color combinations. I think like everyone just mentioned, it really boils down to lack of time or being in a creative rut. I personally feel for me like its time and its not just for your challenge but others too. I made a list 2 weeks ago of all the challenges I intended to join and 2 weeks later, I didn’t join any. I made 4 cards for all the challenges but family and other responsibilities did not permit me to post them on time plus I have neglected by blog the past 2 weeks. I think many people like joining challenges and I wish I could join more and I will try because challenges really put me in my creative mindset. So I really hope you don’t stop and give it some time. I think what you’re doing here is awesome. I will try and make a card for this challenge because I love the color palette. :)

  28. I love the challenge, I just recently found it. It’s such a great challenge and I am surprised at what I can do in 10 minutes. I love that there are 2 weeks for the challenge. I struggle with having time to make cards, I usually only have weekends to work on the challenges. I also struggle with having too much freedom. My first challenge was for your Birthday, knowing that I had to make a Birthday card made the challenge a little easier for me but I also love the color part of the challenge. I hope you do continue!!

  29. Paulina, I love 10 minute craft dash, and if I had more time, I would enter more often. I appreciate the work that goes into keeping it running, but I would be so sad to see it finish! I hope your participation levels rise. I have noticed that blog land has been a little quiet lately. I’m wondering if it is just a phase? I know that I’ve had trouble finding time to visit and comment lately, but have my fingers crossed I can do more sometime in the near future. ;-)
