Craft Fair Recap

Hello sweet friends!

I’m sorry that I have been MIA for the past few days. With the craft fair(s) behind me, I have already jumped head first into my next project {ie design team cards}.

Before we start, I need to forewarn you, this may be a long post….you can just look at the pics, if you’d like. :)

The craft fair started at 10AM on Friday- we started setting up around 8:45. The fair was at a upscale retirement home, in a nice area. {Louis Vuitton, Neiman Marcus were just around the corner} I was hoping that with this high-end stores nearby, my items would go over well and I would be left with just a few items. Unfortunately this was not the case.

The majority of the customers were residents at the retirement home. A few commented on my items, but quite a few just walked right past. Thankfully, Amy, Ginny and Cecelia came by and brought along some cheerful smiles and also some sales! {Thanks, girlies!}

Overall it was a good experience….however I don’t know if it was worth all of the time and effort. I was working overtime getting all the merchandise ready and purchasing supplies- I wish I knew that I didn’t need to put in that much effort. I didn’t make back my supply $ which was REALLY disappointing. I was hoping to at least make that back, if not more.

Since my sister and I had SO much merchandise left, my mom encouraged us to participate in another fair. I was so exhausted I didn’t even want to think of doing another one. Both my sister and I went to bed in a heartbeat- I don’t think we could have stayed awake another minute!

Come Saturday morning {8AM}….my mom wakes us up saying she found another local craft fair. I was so groggy I didn’t even get up. She asked if I wanted to participate if they had room- I told her to call if they did. Well, she ended up getting both of us a table. The fair was 10 minutes from our house, so that was nice and convenient. After scrambling to get my merchandise back in my car, I scurried off to the location. Fast forward 6 hours….I sold some more merchandise and made back my supply money. {yay!} Altogether my sister sold about 2/3 of her yummy goodies- oh wow, were they yummy! Yes, I’m supposed to be on a diet, but I just couldn’t resist! To see pics of ALL her goodies, visit her blog here. {Warning: don’t visit on an empty stomach!}

I’ll have another post with the breakdown of what sold…..hopefully that will help others who are thinking of doing craft fairs in the future.

Well, thanks for sticking around for the whole post. Hopefully you enjoyed the pics!

  1. I can’t believe that you didn’t sell out on all your lovely projects! I raved about it when I got back to work and showed everyone what I bought…

    I gotta pop over to your sister’s blog…the chocolate covered oreos were a ginormous hit!

  2. Thanks for posting those pictures of your craft fair table, Paulina!! Your display and all of your merchandise looked absolutely AMAZING!!!!! I wish I lived closer to you so I could have seen it in person!!! You are incredibly talented!!!!! I’m thinking you should post your leftover items on your Etsy store!!!

  3. Your stuff is awesome! I love the tags. I would love to see some close up pictures. Are you putting some of that on Etsy? You should, especially those tags. I love them and would definitely be interested in buying some.

  4. I’m sorry that first craft fair was a let-down. I had a great time coming by, and am of course very pleased with my purchases. Glad you had a second fair to attend! Love the pictures!

  5. …what is it with craft shows recently? i helped my sister-in-law out on saturday at a craft show at a local hotel which sounded like it was going to be a great event — she was selling her handmade baby items (blankets, burpcloths, hair bows, etc) and her booth was sooo awesomely set up (as was yours by the pictures…great appeal!!) and she even won “Best Artisan in the Show”; however…not a single flippin sale! The vendors were outrageously disappointed as they were unable to sell as well…and the booth fee was $45!! There must have been some bad craft show mojo goin on!! Your stuff is incredible…and it certainly wont stay long in your etsy store, that’s for sure!! (Luckily my sis-in-law has wicked success on hers, too!! Well, glad to hear that the 2nd craft show went better for you!! and I’m sure whatever is left will go super quick for you! :) Toodles! — Julie
